Job purpose
We are seeking a Part Time (Temp) Electrician to be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in compliance with safety regulations, technical standards, and company policies. This role will involve diagnosing electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all work meets quality and code requirements. 8-koi; a diverse Florida based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients for over a decade.
Duties and responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems, and fixtures in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics.
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches, to ensure proper operation.
- Diagnose electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices.
- Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, OSHA).
- Troubleshoot and repair control systems, lighting systems, and power distribution equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and installations.
- Follow all safety procedures, wear protective gear, and use lockout/tagout protocols when necessary.
- Collaborate with other trades and departments to complete projects on schedule.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal electrician apprenticeship program preferred.
- Currently enrolled as a 2 year apprentice in the Florida Apprenticeship Program
- At lease a minmum1-year job experience.
- Proven experience as an electrician in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficient in using electrical tools, meters, and testing devices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather
Working conditions
Working conditions may require overtime, weekend, or on-call shifts.
Work involves exposure to high voltage, moving machinery, and construction sites.
Use of PPE (personal protective equipment) is mandatory.
Physical requirements
Normal office environment mobility; sitting, walking, bending, stooping, standing, lifting a maximum of 25 pounds (greater than 25 pounds requires a two-person lift), turning, pushing. Normal office dexterity, to include; reaching, handling, grasping, to include typing/keyboard, and phone use.
