We are looking for a Trainee or Apprentice Butcher to join our busy team at Johnsons of Old Hurst Farm Shop
Due to the location, access to transport or own vehicle is essential.
We pride ourselves on being a farm-to-fork business, with 90+% of the meat reared here at the Johnson family's farm, and everything else sourced locally and responsibly. The butcher's team practice traditional methods to prepare the farm's own beef, venison, pork, buffalo & turkey, but the farm also has some more exotic home-reared meats, including ostriches.
Onsite we have a zoo/farm with over 200 animals, farm shop, production kitchen, tea room & steak house restaurant.
£PH depends on age and experience. Pay is bi-weekly every other Wednesday.
Duties include, but are not limited to: -
- Setting up the 50ft fresh meat counter at the start of shift
- Assisting with meat preparation
- Assisting with customer orders
- Serving customers
- Cleaning the cutting room, equipment, counters & fridges
- Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment
- Following correct health and safety protocol with regard to food hygiene and self safety (training provided)
- Organisational & time keeping skills
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment
The whole site is closed on a Monday; you will never be required to work a bank holiday Monday. We are also closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
Shift pattern: Full-time - 4 days out of 6 days. Tuesday to Sunday. Day time shifts. Part-time hours available.
Staff meals and drinks are provided during the shift.
