Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Trainee Machine Vision Application Support Technician to join our technical sales team in Cambridgeshire. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within the field of automation and machine vision technology. The role involves supporting our customers in product selection, testing, deployment and optimisation of machine vision systems used in manufacturing processes. Candidates will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, with a focus on imaging components, and software integration. A strong interest in network technologies, software and hardware is essential for this role.
After the training period, the successful individual will be expected to support customers both remotely and at site, so a clean driving license and own vehicle is essential for the duration of the training period for which a mileage allowance will be given.
Once the training is completed, a company car will be made available.
Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive product knowledge of the full machine vision and code reading portfolio
- Assist with the selection and assembly and integration of machine vision systems
- Support the programming and troubleshooting of smart cameras and machine vision software (training will be given)
- Participate in the calibration and testing of machine vision systems to optimise performance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to document system configurations and modifications.
- Assist with basic mathematical calculations necessary for system setup and alignment tasks.
- Ultimately, this exciting role means taking responsibility for customer support, both pre and post sales.
- Visiting customer factory sites to support customer installations as required
Qualifications
- Higher level qualifications in the sciences are essential
- Experience or familiarity with high level computer software application development
- Hands-on experience with computer networks
- Knowledge of hand tools, tooling, and basic maths skills required for technical tasks
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail to support system assembly and troubleshooting.
- Mechanical and electrical knowledge combined with a proactive attitude towards learning new skills in automation technology.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards.
