We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Apprentice Generator Engineer to join our team. This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience while working towards a recognised engineering qualification. You will learn from experienced engineers, work on a wide range of equipment, and build a long-term career in a growing and essential industry.
As part of our Service team, you will support the maintenance, repair, and installation of diesel generators and associated equipment, both in the workshop and on customer sites.
What you’ll be doing:
- You will assist with servicing, maintaining, and repairing diesel generators and mechanical systems. This includes working on engines, alternators, fuel systems, cooling systems, and other key components.
- You will support fault finding and diagnostics, helping to identify issues and carry out effective repairs.
- You will be involved in installing, commissioning, and decommissioning generator units.
- You will carry out routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and performance testing to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- You will help maintain accurate service records and ensure all work is completed to a high standard.
- You will follow all health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures and help maintain a clean and organised working environment.
- You will work closely with colleagues across the business and interact professionally with customers when required.
What we’re looking for:
- You should have GCSEs (or equivalent), ideally including Maths, English, and a technical subject.
- You should be working towards, or willing to work towards, a Mechanical Engineering or Plant Maintenance qualification.
- You will have a practical, hands-on interest in mechanical or engineering work. Any previous experience in a workshop, automotive, or similar environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
- You should be a strong communicator, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- You will be motivated, reliable, and willing to learn, with a positive attitude towards developing new skills.
