Earn while you learn\n\n- Gain an SCQF automotive qualification\n\n- Work full time in a garage workshop\n\n- Job based in Glasgow\n\n- Immediate Start\n\nGTG Training are recruiting for an Apprentice Mechanic on behalf of an independent garage.\u00A0This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are ready to advance their career within the automotive industry.\n\nThe Modern Apprenticeship Programmes allow apprentices to work full time and\u00A0earn while they learn putting theory into practice within a training environment.\n\nAs well as attending the training centre for week block release of training, regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.\n\nWhat Might a Typical Day in this Job look like?\n\nYou will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components and electrical fault diagnostics.\n\nExamples of the units covered are:\u00A0\n\nMaterials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment\u00A0\nInspection of light vehicles\u00A0\nDiagnosing and rectifying chassis units and components\u00A0\nDiagnosing and rectifying vehicle engines and component faults\u00A0\nEnsuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety\u00A0\nContributing to workplace good housekeeping\u00A0 What will I learn?\n\nRegular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace with dedicated mentors from GTG and the apprenticeâs workplace, which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.\n\nDuring the 3 year apprenticeship, candidates will train through GTG to SCQF Level 7 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair. What qualifications or qualities are required?\n\nYou must have or expect to gain National 4 or above in English, Maths, and either a Science or Technical Subject.\u00A0\n\nWhat personal qualities are required?\n\nWe are looking for candidates who want to kickstart their career in the automotive industry and who are keen to learn.\nYou must be dedicated and have a proactive approach to your work and learning.\nYou are able to prioritise and work to timelines.\u00A0\nA willingness to work in a practical environment using your own initiative.\nA full UK Driving licence is not essential but preferred.\u00A0\nIf youâve got the right skills for the job, we want to hear from you.
