Multi-Skilled Engineering Apprentice
Location: Near Selby
Pay: £10.85 - £12.71 per hour (dependent on National Minimum Wage age group)
Contract: Temporary with the opportunity to become permanent following a successful probation period
Hours: Full-time
Shift Pattern
Rotating shifts are effected by the seasons. Covering 6am to 2pm / 2pm to 10pm /10pm to 6am. On a 3-on/4-off and 4-on/3 off basis.

Key Responsibilities
-
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with maintenance schedules.

Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Provide technical support to production teams to minimise operational downtime.

Perform both mechanical and electrical maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability.
-
Conduct safety checks and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities, including equipment upgrades and process improvements.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
-
Assist with the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment.

Work closely with internal teams and external contractors to resolve engineering issues efficiently.

Contribute to site-wide engineering projects and initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong technical knowledge across mechanical and electrical engineering.

Ability to diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, and PLC-based systems.

Familiarity with maintenance management systems and engineering documentation.

Understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with good attention to detail.

Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Qualifications and Experience
-
Level 3 qualification (or above) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.

Additional equipment or industry-specific certifications (desirable).

Experience in a multi-skilled maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.

Experience with planned and reactive maintenance activities.
-
Hands-on experience with fault-finding and root cause analysis.

Experience working with automated equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery, or similar systems.
