“I decided to take up an Apprenticeship with EDF Energy rather than go to university after school. I’m so glad I did, there’s nothing out there like it.” – Sam, Apprentice
The Opportunity
Our Chemistry Apprenticeship offers a starting salary of £25,139 and the chance to study for a BSc Laboratory Scientist Degree. This four-year programme combines practical experience with academic learning, giving you skills you won’t find on campus.
You’ll work with industry-leading experts at #SizewellB, gaining experience in nuclear power plant chemistry, chemical safety, technical governance, discharge standards, and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). You’ll also learn to solve problems and identify improvements that make a real difference.
Your studies will be delivered online by Manchester Metropolitan University, supported by annual intensive lab weeks. By the end of the programme, you’ll have a degree, hands-on experience, and a career that’s ready to grow – all while supporting the journey towards An Electric Britain.
Your Work Location
You’ll be based at our Sizewell B Power Station in Suffolk, working on site and connecting with colleagues across EDF. Your time will be split between practical learning at #SizewellB and online study, with annual lab weeks at Manchester Metropolitan University.
