Job Summary
As a Trainee Survey Technician, you will work as part of our surveying team, learning how to use mobile 3D laser scanners and create digital twins. The data you collect will be used to produce floor plans, building information models (BIM), and invaluable datasets for estate teams across the country.
This role primarily involves working away from home and travelling to various sites nationwide. Initially, you will shadow one of our experienced survey technicians to learn how to operate 3D surveying equipment and data collection tools. Once fully trained, you will work independently, conducting surveys and ensuring the delivery of high-quality data.
This is a full-time role requiring 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a key emphasis on working away from home as an essential part of the job. Regular overnight stays will be a standard requirement throughout each week. To support this, the company provides allowances for hotels, fuel, and food.
Responsibilities and Duties
Upon completion of training, the day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Planning survey, ensuring all data is accurately collected and processed.
- Conducting precise 3D laser scans using a handheld scanner to capture spatial data across various project sites.
- Process raw data into a registered point cloud
- Collaborating with project teams to understand survey requirements and deliverables.
- Meeting internal and customer deadlines
- Troubleshooting and resolving any issues with equipment or data collection in the field.
Qualifications and Skills
- A valid, clean UK driving licence & own vehicle.
- Applicants must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check.
- Excellent spatial awareness
- Strong organisational skills
- A strong desire to learn new software and technologies

- £25,000 - £27,000
- 31 days holiday including bank holidays (3 to be used for Christmas close down)
- Extra day holiday for each 5 years’ service
- Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm, Friday 9am – 4pm (1 hour paid lunch)
