About the role
The role is as an assurance officer helping to build our new assurance team, working in an open business culture of reflection and improvement to ensure we do business the right way.
You’ll be working with the Head of Internal Audit to help plan and complete audits in line with the annual WPA Assurance Plan, to support our wider risk and compliance processes, and to help monitor business progress against identified audit issues.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills and gain formal qualifications through a funded apprenticeship programme. There will also be opportunities to perform wider assurance and risk activities including supporting the Chief Risk Officer to maintain and enhance WPA’s risk management systems and providing business support to maintain effective internal controls.
The starting salary is £22,000 to £28,000 depending on qualifications and experience. The role is full time (37 hours per week) and is based in our office on Blackbrook Business Park in Taunton, TA1 2PE. Suitable candidates must live within a commutable distance of our office in Taunton. The role is office-based, with some hybrid working opportunities on a non-contractual basis.
About you
You should have GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 (C) or above, hold two A-Levels or equivalent in any subject. An undergraduate degree is desirable but not essential, and you should be able to demonstrate:
· Curiosity and a desire to learn;
· An analytical mindset;
· An ability to understand new subject matter quickly;
· Attention to detail; and
· An ability to engage successfully with different personalities.
