About the business division:
Discover the world of Capital Markets with a career in our Corporate Finance division. Here we aim to build long-term, trusted and mutually beneficial relationships with the major corporates, financial institutions, financial sponsors and sovereigns around the world.
The Corporate Finance business is a comprehensive private-side product and coverage area focused on the primary issuance of multi-currency debt. From origination through to execution.
Debt Capital Markets
Debt Capital Markets (DCM) are product specialists responsible for winning debt capital market business and providing expertise to frequent and prospective issuers. Typical clients include public sector entities, corporates, banks and insurance companies and the primary products offered by the team are inaugural public bonds, private placements, covered bonds, EMTN programme issuance, liability management and bank capital considerations.
IG Acquisition Finance
The Investment Grade Acquisition Finance business originates, structures and executes M&A-related and general liquidity-driven financings largely for investment-grade borrowers. Acquisition financing provides commitments for loans to support event driven financing, such as mergers, corporate reorganizations, asset disposals, spin-offs, recapitalizations.
Equity Capital Markets
The ECM Origination team are product specialists responsible for winning equity capital market business and providing expertise to corporates, governments and private equity companies in partnership with Investment Banking Coverage. Primary products offered by the team are initial public offerings (IPOs), rights issues, primary and follow-on offerings (both marketed and accelerated), private placements and equity-linked products such as convertible bonds, exchangeable bonds and bonds with warrants.
SETG
SETG creates, markets, structures and executes structured equity transactions for Corporates, Sponsors, and Family Offices, among other clients. SETG works alongside client coverage teams in Investment Banking and Wealth Management, as well as product teams such as Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, M&A and Leveraged Finance. SETG works in close partnership with its JV partner the Equity Financing trading desk in Fixed Income and Currencies. SETG executes most transactions in a principal capacity, meaning that DB commits its balance sheet and manages risk to facilitate customer transactions such as margin loans (linear business) and the equity derivative transactions (non-linear business) including collar financings and forward sales.
Leveraged Debt Capital Markets
The Leveraged Debt Capital Markets (LDCM) combines a premier high-yield market business with diverse debt financing capabilities. The bank is able to price, structure, underwrite and distribute senior, mezzanine and high-yield transactions in all of the major financial centres.
The team works on transactions across a wide range of sectors including Technology, Media & Telecoms, Natural Resources, Industrials, Consumer & Healthcare, Real Estate, Gaming & Leisure across the EMEA region.
Corporate Broking
Deutsche Bank provides Corporate Broking services to LSE listed corporates which includes and is not limited to the following activities; monitoring the price of Shares including significant dealings, providing market information, assisting in the organisation of results preparation, seeking market information from investors concerning clients, arranging meetings with appropriate persons in relation to a potential or actual investment in the client, providing investor feedback to the client, providing ad-hoc advice and presentations in relation to corporate governance, dividend policy, hedge fund activity and other relevant matters to the client’s Senior Management, corporate broking advice on the content and timing of any trading or material announcement, including quarterly, half-year and annual results.
Division specifics about the apprentice role:
As an apprentice, you’ll be provided with the training, study support and on-the-job coaching to accelerate your career. With study support towards a degree in Applied Finance and professional qualifications (e.g. CISI/IMC, CFA).
Apprentices will spend approximately 20% of their time studying (either at QMUL on campus or remotely) with on-going academic module assessment by QMUL and two end point assessments (assessed by an independent third party assessor) as part of the apprenticeship scheme (at the end of year 2, leading to Level 4 investment operations specialist apprentice award and end of year 4, leading to Level 6 financial services apprentice award) in addition to assessments provided by practitioner qualification providers (CISI, IMC, CFA). Furthermore, apprentices will gain a degree in BSc (Hons) Applied Finance at the end of the 4 years subject to passing all required assessments.
Your rotational experience in Corporate Finance will give you the opportunity to work in different teams and have a varied role. Your tasks might include industry research, company performance monitoring, pricing products for traders, preparing financial data analysis, pitching transactions to the team, participating in client calls or refining the way we do forecasts. In addition, you will be involved in live deals, exploring new financing & lending opportunities, preparing marketing materials for clients, and reviewing deal pricing and structure comparisons.
