Welcome to Scallywags Childcare Centre.
Interested in joining our team as a full time apprentice? If you are looking for an apprenticeship opportunity that leads into an exciting and rewarding career, then we would love to hear from you.
If you join us here at Scallywags Childcare Centre, you’ll quickly become part of our strong team that boast over 200 years of combined staff service. We know that the Early years sector is one of the most rewarding that there is, the impact you will have on each child’s life will be treasured, recognised and valued here at Scallywags.
Our ethos here is simple, for children and staff: We treat everyone at our setting with equality, dignity, value and worth. Scallywags celebrates individuality.
As an apprentice with us, you won’t be sat around twiddling your thumbs, you’ll be integrated into the group and learn from our brilliant Educators who, we believe, are some of the ‘best in the business’.
We hope that you’ll love working here and see that our work culture is something that we work very hard to maintain, you’ll likely make friends for life and find like minded colleagues who make work, a little less 'worky'.
We understand that when looking for a new role, you might want more time to spend with your own family, maybe need some more down time, want to pursue other hobbies, get those jobs done at home or simply lay on the sofa. Whatever you want flexibility for, we want to support that.
We’ve always had a family focused, flexible way of working here at Scallywags with varied shift patterns and contracts. Our current apprentice offer is 35 hours over 4 days.
So that's a 4 day work week, early finishes, late starts, flexible work for appointments, weekends off, evenings off, bank holidays off? Yep! What else?

- You'll more than likely make some great friends here, most people that join us tend to!
Scallywags is rated GOOD by OFSTED and here is some recent Parent and Carer Feedback:
- “To me Scallywags has been like our extended family, always there no matter what life throws at us”
- “For a moment, purely for convenience, we considered moving, however, we quickly realised there was no where else quite like Scallywags and therefore, we could not do it. You were worth the extra journey and more!”
- “If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. It’s a lovely bright setting and many staff have been there from when my daughter attended over 7 years ago”
- “All the staff are fabulous in their work and you can tell that you all love your job with all the smiling faces, even during the difficult period of COVID19, your commitment and dedication to our children was exemplary”
