We are looking for a Apprentice Propeller Repair Engineer in our Glasgow Workshop.
Your role and responsibilities:
- Carry out repair to bronze ships propellers by MIG welding, TIG Welding, also Stainless Steel and Duplex Welding, heat straightening and grinding as well as Polishing of propellers.
- Ensuring that timesheets (signed by customer) and expense sheets are submitted on a weekly basis
- Liaise with the General Manager and the customer to ensure service deadlines are met
- Ensure that all work carried out is to ISO 9001/2000 standard.
- Ensure that all activities in the workshop and on-site are carried out in accordance with the site safety rules and in compliance with the Company's Health and Safety obligations
- To assist with problem solving and recommendations for repairs
- To adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude when requested to assist Company staff with any "ad-hoc" duties that may be required
To be successful in this role we require:
- Strong interest in Welding and blacksmith as a multi-skilled role
- Knowledge of propellers would be advantageous but not essential
- Pro-active and independent individual with a team player attitude
- High attention to detail with a methodical approach & practical problem-solving skill
- Fluent in English, verbal and written
