Solar Installation Team Member
JOB TITLE:
We are seeking a dedicated Solar Installer to join our expanding renewable energy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing solar photovoltaic systems on various types of buildings and structures. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to sustainable energy solutions while developing technical skills in a dynamic environment. The position involves working both independently and as part of a team, ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards.
JOB TYPE:
Full Time (40 hours per week)
LOCATION:
Primarily field-based, working on residential and commercial properties across the region and the UK. Occasional travel to company offices or training locations may be required.
SUPERVISOR/MANAGER:
Installation Manager / Site Supervisor
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work as part of an installation team to fit solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to roofs and associated structures.
· Undertake an NVQ in Roofing at college as part of ongoing professional development.
· Support electrical installation tasks, including running DC and AC cables, connecting inverters, and assisting qualified electricians with testing and commissioning.
· Prepare and install solar panels safely, ensuring correct fixing, alignment, and weatherproofing in line with design and manufacturer specifications.
· Carry out basic and complex roofing tasks such as replacing tiles, fitting flashings, and ensuring watertight finishes.
· Carry out the full range of roofing works, including complete roof refurbishments, from initial inspection and stripping of old materials to installation, finishing, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards.
· Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness, particularly when working at height or with electrical equipment.
· Support pre-installation surveys, site preparation, and post-installation quality checks.
· Ensure tools, vehicles, and materials are kept clean, tidy, and in good working order.
· Report progress, issues, or incidents promptly to the Installation Manager.
· Maintain accurate installation records and photographs as required by company processes.
· Represent the company professionally with clients, tenants, and other contractors.
· Adhere to all company policies, including environmental and quality standards.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
· Full UK driving licence (essential)
· GCSE A–C (or equivalent) in Maths and English (desirable).
· Willingness to undertake an NVQ Level 2 in Roofing (essential).
· Willingness to undertake necessary qualifications in solar installations (essential).
· Working at Height and Manual Handling certifications (training provided if not held).
Experience:
· Previous experience in roofing, construction, or electrical work (advantageous but not required).
· Keen interest in renewable energy systems and hands-on technical work.
Skills:
· Good practical ability and attention to detail.
· Comfortable working outdoors and at height.
· Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
· Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
· Basic understanding of tools, electrical systems, and site safety.
· Ability to follow instructions and assist the whole team effectively.
