Job Summary
Majestic Trees are looking to expand our Nursery team. The job involves all aspects of tree production from the unloading of new stock through to the preparation of finished trees for customers. An exceptional candidate will have had horticultural training, tree production experience, and have the ability to drive machinery, though we would be very willing to invest in the right individual to develop these skills. An excellent work ethic within a team, a willingness to work in all weathers and good communication and organisational skills are also important.
The applicant will ideally hold a UK drivers’ licence and show personal attributes such as flexibility, initiative, and reliability.
Responsibilities
· Unloading and handling semi mature trees using machinery safely and proficiently.
- Moving, setting out, tying up and potting trees, shrubs and hedging plants.
- Growing trees efficiently using best horticultural practise; pruning, feeding, spraying (PA1 & PA6).
- Monitoring and adjusting the irrigation system including some weekend duties.
- Working in accordance to Health and Safety Policy, including using and understanding Risk Assessments.
- Operating heavy machinery and equipment (training provided).
- Complying with environmental standards.
- Filling in and submitting paperwork
All team members may be asked to provide support to other teams as needed.
Personal Qualities: You must be an excellent team player who has a positive, can-do attitude, is logical, organised, and personable. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, reliable, have initiative and an excellent work ethic and be willing to learn.
You will need to be flexible to manage varied schedules, resilient to work in all weathers and physically fit to sensibly meet task demands.
Experience: Candidates ideally will have worked in horticulture, landscaping, or the nursery business, but we are willing to train an exceptional applicant with the right aptitude.
