Summary
The Structures Mechanic Apprentice is a learning position designed to develop the skills required for aircraft-related sheet metal and Auxiliary Fuel Systems (AFS) installation and modification. Under close supervision in both a classroom setting and on-the-job practice, the apprentice will gain hands-on experience and learn the procedures and standards necessary for quality aircraft structural / sheet metal maintenance and modification.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Participate in classroom training and hands-on practice to learn aircraft structural and sheet metal-related activities, including modifications, heavy repair, and maintenance.
- Develop proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, manufacturer specifications, Company Process Standards, and Airplane Manuals through guided instruction.
- Under close supervision, assist in performing planned aircraft maintenance work, ensuring each task is carried out in compliance with established standards.
- Learn to document all aircraft-related actions in accordance with the Repair Station Manual, Quality System Manual, and applicable regulatory guidance. Training will include proper completion of all required paperwork throughout each task.
- Assist in preparing and submitting documentation to Quality Control upon project completion.
- Learn to accurately record material usage, production data, quality checks, and time-keeping information.
- Engage in regular feedback sessions to understand areas for improvement and refine techniques.
- Participate in safety training, and learn to inspect and report any suspected non-airworthy conditions in aircraft, components, or equipment.
- Promptly report any issues encountered during assignments and participate in learning how to troubleshoot problems effectively.
- Learn to identify and report any unserviceable tooling, machinery, or equipment required for efficient production.
- Work towards completing tasks within allotted timeframes while maintaining the highest degree of quality as guided by trainers, leads and or supervisors.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment by following company standards and safety protocols.
- Complete all initial / recurrent training requirements in a timely manner.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School Education or equivalent reading, writing, and math abilities.
- 0 to 1 years of aircraft sheet metal/structures experience or any combination of training / education and experience in similar job roles
- Strong willingness to learn and a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in aircraft maintenance or sheet metal work.
- Effective mechanical aptitude and basic hand tool skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under close supervision in a team-oriented environment.
- Effective attention to detail, with an emphasis on quality and safety.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to participate in classroom and on-the-job training sessions.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing all training and development requirements.
- Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office software and other Company and discipline specific software applications.
Language Skills
- Read, write, and understand the English language.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and engineering drawings.
