About the Role

This Assistant Quantity Surveyor role offers an exciting opportunity to kick-start a career in construction. Based in their regional Somerset office, you'll join a supportive team delivering high-quality projects across the South West, focusing on the educational, commercial, and social housing sectors with values up to £10m. Key Responsibilities

Assist in preparing cost plans, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
Support procurement processes, including supplier negotiations and subcontractor evaluations.
Aid in valuing interim payments, variations, and final accounts.
Contribute to risk assessments, value engineering, and contract compliance.
Maintain accurate project records and reports using industry-standard software.
Collaborate with site teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure commercial success.

What the Company is Looking For

Required Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) or actively pursuing professional qualifications (e.g., RICS pathway).
Basic understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT/NEC) and cost management principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QS software.

Desirable Skills

Previous internship or placement in QS or construction.
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
