What you’ll be doing:
During the period of the apprenticeship, apprentices learn appropriate skills and gain a strong grounding in engineering practices – using tools and complex machines to carry out a range of tasks, operating safely in the workplace and working on complex products in our manufacturing functions.
You’ll spend the first year full time at BAE Systems- Academy for Skills and Knowledge, a multi-million pound facility in Samlesbury (Post Code: BB2 7FT). Here you will learn foundation skills, knowledge and behaviours before moving into your trade disciple, such as Mechanical or Electrical Aircraft Fitter, Mechatronics Maintenance, Machinist, Toolmaker or Fabricator.
In years 2 to 4 you will work in different exciting and inspiring placements across Warton and/or Samlesbury BAE Systems sites further developing your skills supported by a Skills Coach and Placement supervisors on a range of complex products and processes within manufacturing. During this period you will also continue to learn 1 day per week in the Academy for skills and knowledge.
What qualification will you get?
Level 3 Apprenticeship standard for Engineering.
