Job Summary
The Machinist Apprentice program is a 4 year commitment which is a combination of classroom training at Grand Rapids Community College in addition to working alongside a skilled CNC Machinist. You will learn how to run all trade-related machines and expand your blueprint knowledge and skills.
You must have the ability to rotate shifts in order to learn the necessary skills for this role. At the end of the program this position will be required to work 3rd shift.

What You Will Learn
- How to operate manual and automated machine tools to produce precision parts
- Maintain and repair machine tools
- Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine the specific operation to be performed
- Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- Set up and adjust machines such as lathes, milling machines, and EDM wire-cutting machines
- How to use CAM software such as Espirit or Mastercam to develop programs for various CNC machines
- How to complete applicable documentation for current operations
- Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines
- 5S principles
