This is an excellent opportunity to start a long-term career in the electrical industry through a 4-year apprenticeship. You’ll gain hands-on experience across industrial, commercial and domestic environments while working towards the EAL Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification.
You’ll be supported by experienced electricians on site and attend block-release training at Leeds Bradford Campus, allowing you to develop both practical skills and technical knowledge. On successful completion, this role provides a strong foundation for progression as a qualified electrician.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, maintenance and repair of electrotechnical systems, including switchboards, motors, cabling, lighting, alarm systems and renewable technologies
- Support the preparation and installation of wiring systems within buildings, structures and varied environments
- Learn and apply relevant electrical legislation, industry standards and safe working practices
- Assist with inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrical systems
- Help diagnose and rectify electrical faults to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently
- Maintain a safe, tidy and well-organised working environment
- Attend college-based training and assessments as part of the apprenticeship programme
- Complete all apprenticeship requirements and progress annually in line with the agreed training plan
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Minimum Grade 4 in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
- Commitment to completing a 4-year apprenticeship
- Full UK driving licence or working towards
- Genuine interest in electrical installation and engineering
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely
- Reliable, motivated and eager to learn
Desirable:
- Previous study or experience in electrical or engineering-related subjects
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
