Job Description
We are looking for Engineering Summer Interns to join our Projects & Development (P&D) team, which plays a key role in innovation and sustainability work. We are seeking motivated interns to support us with a variety of work, based in the London office.
About us: P&D turns Anglo American's strategic intent into real-world outcomes by shaping opportunities, designing solutions, and delivering capital projects that create long-term value. We are an integrated team combining project, technical, sustainability, and innovation expertise to lead the development and delivery of some of Anglo American’s most complex and strategic initiatives. We shape, develop, and deliver projects from early-stage studies through execution and handover. Our work includes internal transformations, brownfield expansions, new ventures, and early innovations that support the company’s future. We work as one integrated team across disciplines, regions, and functions. A consistent delivery model connects our people, systems, and processes and is supported by clear frameworks and governance that enable alignment, readiness, and performance. We work closely with businesses, operators, technical experts, and corporate teams across Anglo American, such as Legal, Finance, Strategy and Sustainability, to ensure alignment, readiness, and effective delivery.
As a Summer Intern in the P&D team, you will use your skills in research, literature studies, techno-economic analysis and report writing, and you may have the opportunity to work on the following:
- Investigating technical initiatives and innovations applicable to Anglo American’s projects and developments
- Preparing literature studies, technical reports and presentation packs
- Assessing the technical feasibility, economic potential, strategic fit, complexity, risk and impact of various initiatives for Anglo American’s projects and developments
- Working on an innovation challenge in mining, potentially focusing on designing an AI-powered method for identifying breakthrough opportunities in a priority area: ore sorting, leaching or tailings management.
This internship offers an excellent opportunity to explore meaningful and diverse work within responsible and sustainable future mining. You will gain valuable hands-on experience and insight into how technical, innovation, and sustainability considerations are integrated into project development.
If you are curious, motivated, and eager to contribute to sustainable mining, we would be happy to hear from you!
