Mathematics Interns
Summer internship with CCEA

CCEA is a unique educational body in the UK, bringing together the three areas of curriculum, examinations and assessment. Our Summer Internship offer high calibre mathematics students the opportunity to gain a valuable insight into the work of Northern Irelands leading Awarding Body. The Summer Interns will work alongside experienced professionals in the areas of grading and awarding, statistics, and data science across all CCEAs suite of GCSE and AS/A Level qualifications.
By joining us, interns will work in an environment that inspires and offers an active role in ensuring standards across GCSE and AS/A Level qualifications. Interns will contribute to the success of the Qualifications Standards team in conducting quality checks on all aspects of grading, awarding and results.

Responsibilities:
- extracting and validating data from multiple sources (including CCEAs IT applications);
- validating statistical data in all key awarding documentation;
- confirming 100% accuracy when checking grade boundaries;
- confirming mark adjustments - ensuring that all have been applied accurately;
- aggregation checks to ensure candidates are being awarded the correct final grade;
- validation of Missed Paper calculations; and
- ad hoc requests for statistics to support awarding decisions.
Comprehensive training will be provided on all areas ofQualifications Standards activities.
Requirements:
Please provide evidence and examples of the following skills in your CV and Covering Letter:
- a strong record of academic achievement, including A/A* A Level Mathematics and working towards an Undergraduate/Masters degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or equivalent;
- excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
- excellent attention to detail and accuracy in carrying out calculations;
- experience using R, Python, SPSS, or similar, for data processing, analysis, and visualisation (preferred but not essential); and
- experience of working as an effective member of a team.
