Kettering Dental & Implant Clinic is a well-established and growing practice, recognised for our specialist care in orthodontics and dental implants. Due to an increase in patient demand and the expansion of our team, we are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Dental Nurse Apprentice to join our supportive and dynamic team.
About the Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in starting a career in dental nursing. You will work alongside our experienced dentists and specialists while gaining hands-on experience in a clinical setting. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive comprehensive training leading to a Level 3 qualification in Dental Nursing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist dentists and orthodontic specialists during various procedures, ensuring the best patient care.
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including sterilizing instruments and organizing treatment rooms.
- Support patients before, during, and after their appointments, ensuring a positive experience.
- Keep accurate patient records and assist with administrative tasks.
- Learn and adhere to cross-infection control standards and health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Must have achieved GCSEs at grade 4/C or above in English and Maths.
- Willingness to undertake a Hepatitis B vaccination (mandatory).
- Must be able to pass a DBS check.
- A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a keen interest in dental care.
- Ability to work well in a team and provide excellent patient care.
Training and Qualification:
The dental apprenticeship course is a structured program combining on-the-job training and theoretical learning. Here’s a general overview of how it works:
- Study sessions: Alongside practical experience, you’ll complete academic modules through Tempdent, which include online classes, assessments, and workshops.
- Support and mentoring: You’ll be assigned a tutor/assessor to guide you through the course, track your progress, and offer support.
- Duration: The apprenticeship usually lasts about 18 to 24 months, depending on the qualification level and the learner's progress.
- Qualification: Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and passing all assessments, you’ll gain a a Level 3 qualification in Dental Nursing.
Working Hours and Pay:
- The role is 40 hours per week, including Saturdays, with one weekday off each week. Saturday hours are paid at time and a half.
