Vehicle Apprentice / Junior Mechanic – Job Description
We are looking for a motivated Vehicle Apprentice or Junior Mechanic to join our busy workshop. This position is suited to someone who is serious about becoming a skilled mechanic and wants to continue developing their abilities in a professional environment.
Our workshop mainly works on BMW and Mini vehicles, although other makes and models will also come through the workshop and will need to be worked on when required.
The work carried out in the workshop includes a wide range of mechanical repairs. A large portion of the work involves engine-related jobs, including engine removal and refitting, along with other mechanical repairs. As your skills develop, there will also be opportunities to become involved in diagnostic work.
This role requires someone who already has a solid foundation of basic mechanical skills. Unfortunately, we are not able to take Level 1 apprentices or individuals with no practical workshop experience.
Applicants must already be capable of carrying out basic workshop tasks, including:
- Safely putting vehicles on ramps
- Carrying out oil services
- Brake replacement
- Tyre changes
- Other basic mechanical jobs
Due to the location of the workshop, applicants must hold a full driving licence and have their own vehicle. Candidates should also have their own basic tool set.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is eager to work and learn
- Understands how vehicles work and appreciates the complexity of modern cars
- Learns quickly and wants to improve their skills
- Takes pride in their work and pays attention to detail
- Double-checks their own work
- Is capable of working on their own initiative
- Is willing to go the extra mile when required
Ideally, this position would suit someone who is currently completing Level 2 or Level 3 of their apprenticeship, or someone who has recently finished their apprenticeship and is looking to further develop their skills by working on more complex mechanical jobs.
This role may also be suitable for someone looking to move from a more basic or routine workshop environment into a garage where they can gain experience with more involved mechanical work and continue to develop their skills.
To Apply please send email with more info about yourself.
