Maintenance Apprentice
Deep Sea Electronics is one of the world’s top manufacturers of generator controllers, auto transfer switch controllers, battery chargers and vehicle & off-highway controllers. We employ over 200 people across four continents and sell our products to 150 countries direct from our UK head office and through our comprehensive distributor network.
As part of the maintenance team, the Maintenance Apprentice will be eventually working on an alternating day shift pattern. The role involves maintaining all the machinery in the production area, diagnosing and fixing where necessary to keep production downtime to a minimum.
This role will have a relevant apprentice programme provided running alongside – the successful candidate will be required to attend college one day per week. Following completion of the initial course further opportunities for academic development will be available for the candidate including opportunities up to degree level.

30th March 2026 - 10th April 2026
Requirements:
- Maths & English GCSE or equivalent
- Good attention to detail
- Well organised
- Genuine interest in the role
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to operate under own initiative as well as possessing strong team working skills
- Demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic attitude
- Strong Numerical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on production machinery
- Carry out repairs and perform reactive maintenance on production machinery whilst ensuring downtime is to a minimum so as not to affect the flow of the product build process
- Fault finding on mechanical, motors, air, nitrogen, electrical and the ability to follow wiring diagrams
- Direct liaison with machine suppliers for technical support and solutions
- Understand and comply with company policies and procedures
Internal & External Relationships:
- The main area of support is to production to make sure that production machinery is maintained to a schedule and is running and functioning correctly
- When fixing equipment, it will mainly be on the production line so good communication skills are required to make sure that the operators understand what you are doing
- Reporting back to production line managers with regular updates is also an important part of this role
