Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tile Setter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of tiles in residential and commercial properties. The ideal applicant will have experience working with hand tools, power tools, and reading schematics, ensuring efficient and accurate tile installation.
Responsibilities
- Measure and prepare surfaces for tile installation, ensuring proper alignment and levelness
- Cut tiles accurately using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment
- Mix and apply adhesives or mortar to secure tiles in place according to project specifications
- Follow schematics and technical drawings to achieve precise layouts and patterns
- Perform surface preparation tasks such as cleaning, sanding, or painting prior to tiling
- Utilise carpentry skills when necessary for framing or supporting structures before tiling
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety standards at all times
- Collaborate with other construction professionals including painters, carpenters, and electricians to ensure seamless project completion
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction, particularly in tiling or related trades
- Proficiency with hand tools such as trowels, chisels, cutters, and levels
- Familiarity with power tools including drills, saws, and tile cutters
- Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, or blueprints accurately
- Knowledge of construction painting and carpentry is advantageous but not essential
- Strong attention to detail with an organised approach to work tasks
- Good physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various environmental conditions
- Relevant certifications or training in construction trades are preferred but not mandatory
