Due to our continued success and growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, motivated individual to join our Trainee Programme in one of our Accounts Teams of this long established and well regarded Southwest firm of Chartered Accountants.
About the role
As a trainee you will be learning from a team of accountants around you at different levels of their own personal development, with an individual assigned to you as a mentor and you will be working closely with.
You will learn the basics of working in an accountancy firm, and as your progress the work you complete will become more complex, with less input from your mentor as you become more confident and self-sufficient.
Responsibilities will include;
- Prepare period end financial statements for companies, partnerships, sole traders and LLP’s.
- Prepare period end tax returns including corporation tax, partnership and personal tax.
- Bookkeeping and VAT reporting.
- Develop knowledge of various accounting packages and keeping up to date with various packages.
- Direct client interaction to ensure accounts are finalised in a timely manner.
- Liaise with H M Revenue & Customs.
About you
You should be a Self-motivated, positive and have an enthusiastic attitude. You will be able to manage your time well, prioritise and be able to communicate well with your manager and those around you.
- IT literate including a knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Agile and flexible, being able to manage an often-changing set of priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain a confidential and sensitive relationship with clients
- Confidently dealing with people both in person and over the telephone
- Good team player, but also able to use own initiative
- Friendly and approachable
To be considered for this role you need to have 5 GCSE’s between 9 to 4 including Maths and English, to meet the requirements for our apprenticeship programme.
