Overview/Purpose:
GQ and Pitchfork are looking for an editorial operations assistant to support the GQ/Pitchfork Editorial Operations team. Ideal candidates will have a passion for GQ and Pitchfork with previous experience at a major publication. Candidates should be extremely organized, efficient multi-taskers, and most importantly self-starters with a strong interest in helping a large editorial team function effectively. This role reports directly to the Global Director of Editorial Operations.
Responsibilities:
Support the Global Editorial Operations Director with administrative needs, including but not limited to coordinating meetings, preparing for presentations, conducting research and more. The editorial operations assistant may also need to help other GQ/Pitchfork editorial team members with administrative tasks as needed.
Process editorial invoices and advances; track content costs and assist with monthly financial close process
Draft, process and track writer contracts in partnership with Operations Associate Director and Operations Manager; manage list of all outstanding unsigned contracts
Initiate and track new photography contracts in partnership with Operations Associate Director and Operations Manager
Manager digital editorial cultural calendar to ensure all lineups reflect upcoming cultural moments across brands
Support on all editorial rights inquiries
Support new hire on-boarding (tech set-up, etc)
Arrange travel for writers as needed
Oversee print marked-copy process
Manage awards submissions as needed
Oversee office administrative tasks, such as ordering supplies, maintaining contact lists, vacation calendars, advising on technology issues and more
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
1+ years experience working in a fast-paced publishing environment
Enthusiasm for cultural coverage, including fashion, music, entertainment, sports, etc.
Attention to detail
Analytical problem-solving skills
Extremely organized
Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure, and adhere to tight deadlines
This is a guild position.
The expected base salary range for this position is from $63,000-$70,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
