Description
The maintenance technician position is responsible for maintaining and ensuring continuous operation of the physical facility in accordance with the center's standards and guidelines by providing on-site maintenance for all programs.
The Maintenance Technician must be able to r ead and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service, diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments, perform a variety of plumbing maintenance, carpentry, and minor electrical and plumbing repairs as needed. The Maintenance Technician will also use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties, a ssists with necessary painting, custodial and grounds work as needed and use effective internal and external communication.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have a h igh school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience. Must have a valid NC or SC driver's license.
TECHNICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Overall computer skills needed.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
