Job Description
As an apprentice Fabricator within Williams Racing, you will be taught traditional trade skills and techniques as well as up to date manufacturing processes. You will be exposed to Production and Prototype Manufacturing environments where you will learn how to fabricate various parts for the full size F1 car, as well as associated jigs and fixtures and pit stop equipment You will gain a knowledge of how to work with a variety of ferrous and nonferrous materials.
You’ll learn a wide range of fabrication and metallic jointing principles and techniques whilst being set projects and phase tests in line with your NVQ requirements which will be assessed at regular intervals. You will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where you will gain hands on experience in the fabrication of F1 car components alongside continuing with your studies.
Knowledge in the following:
- MIG welding
- TIG welding
- Bench fitting
- Rolling, Box bending and Guillotining
- Tube forming and swaging
- Manual Milling
- Manual Centre Lathe Turning
- Interpret Engineering Drawings
- Manual inspection
- HSE, COSHH and Risk assessments along with other relevant in-house training.
