Heathrow Engineering Apprenticeship Programme
- Applications should be submitted as soon as possible. This role will close earlier than the advertised date if we reach capacity.
- Four-year rotational programme.
- The minimum age requirement is 16, and candidates must be willing to work in a shift-based role upon turning 18. The programme will commence early September 2025, and the college location will be Uxbridge College. There is no upper age limit, and we encourage individuals of all ages to apply.
- The application process includes video screening questions, a series of online tests and an in-person interview. You will only progress to the next stage if you are successful at each step.

The Apprenticeship:
Through our apprenticeship, you’ll be shaping a career and gaining valuable on-the-job experience to develop into a qualified, multi-skilled Technician. The programme offers the necessary accredited training, guidance and support to develop the skills you’ll need to establish yourself in your engineering career.
All training, books, workwear, personal protective equipment and tools are provided.
During your four-year apprenticeship, you’ll be part of multiple high-performing teams responsible for maintaining the critical engineering infrastructure at Heathrow. You’ll develop a diverse skillset as you learn from experienced colleagues and build your technical expertise whilst keeping the program dynamic and personal to your interests and skills. This programme will result in you being trained to a high level of competence with an externally accredited apprenticeship programme containing NVQ levels 2 and 3 and further education opportunities.
At Heathrow we’ve been offering Engineering Apprenticeships for over 48 years. Over 50% of our current Engineering workforce have completed our apprenticeship, with over 95% of graduating apprentices being offered a permanent position at Heathrow.
- We are looking for committed, eager and driven individuals, willing to learn on a structured programme.
- You will have the motivation to work in an ever-changing environment that will need you to explore problems by creating different possible solutions to keep the airport safe.
- To qualify for our apprenticeship, in terms of GCSEs, you must have a grade 5 (C) or above in Maths, Science and English. Alternatively, you could have a higher or further education qualification or an engineering foundation level surpassing these GCSE requirements. You must be aged 16 or over and be willing to work in a shift-based role once you turn 18.
- Beyond your academic qualifications we will be looking for evidence of teamwork, problem solving and aiming high, that you have developed through your studies and beyond as included in the Skills Builder Framework.
