The King’s School has an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Groundsperson to join the team to ensure that our sports facilities are developed and maintained to the highest possible standards.
Key tasks will be to prepare, maintain and renovate the School’s playing surfaces that includes: Cricket, Rugby, Football, lacrosse, Tennis, artificial surfaces and also assist in the development of the School’s Grounds and Gardens to the highest possible standards whilst ensuring high levels of health and safety are maintained.
Duties will include: mowing, marking out, the use of tractors and implements, weeding, hedge cutting and leaf collection, the candidate will use hand and power tools. You will also be expected to use fertilisers, composts, soils, and other material used in the renovation, preparation and maintenance of sports turf.
Rubbish bin and waste collection, exterior sweeping and help with general waste removal will also be required as part of the role. This is not an exhaustive list of tasks and the candidate will be expected to undertake other tasks as instructed.
The successful applicant must have good communication skills, will need to be physical fit, with an appetite for working in all weather conditions.
Additional training will be given, and the applicant will be expected to undertake mandatory training as instructed.
This post is fixed term for the duration of the apprenticeship.
