Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Tape and Jointer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for finishing the surfaces of walls and ceilings by applying tape and joint compound, ensuring a smooth and professional finish. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong craftsmanship skills, and the ability to work with various hand and power tools. The successful candidate will contribute to creating high-quality finishes in residential and commercial projects.

Responsibilities

Apply tape to joints between drywall sheets to create a seamless appearance.
Mix and apply joint compound to taped areas, ensuring an even finish.
Sand surfaces after the compound has dried to achieve a smooth texture ready for painting or decoration.
Read and interpret schematics to understand project specifications and requirements.
Collaborate with other tradespeople, including carpenters and masons, to ensure quality workmanship throughout the project.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment by properly storing tools and materials.
Fabricate necessary components as required for specific projects, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
Use hand tools and power tools effectively for various tasks related to plastering and finishing work.

Requirements

Proven experience in tape and jointing or related fields such as plastering or carpentry.
Proficiency in using hand tools (e.g., trowels, knives) and power tools (e.g., sanders, mixers).
Strong understanding of masonry techniques is advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or schematics is essential.
Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, including lifting materials up to 25 kg.
A valid driver's licence is preferred for travel between job sites.
